Minestrone Soup

I received this recipe while in Vernal, Utah from a great friend, Camille Rowe.

MINESTRONE SOUP

1/4 c. raw rice
1 small bay leaf
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. basil
3 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 qt. water
1 lb. browned hamburger
1 c. chopped onion
1 cubed raw potato
1 c. sliced carrots
1/2 c. sliced celery
1 c. shredded cabbage
2 1/2 c. bottled tomatoes, blended with blender
8 oz. cubed velveta cheese

This may seem like a different combination (specifically the cabbage and velveta cheese) but it is really good.
Mix together. Simmer for 1 hour
